About Us

First, we want to say hello to any guests that are visiting our site. We are devoted to loving and serving the people in the community where we live-if we can assist you with God, his word, or life's battles please contact us!

The Bloomington Church of Christ is a Christian family of believers. We strive to live out all the truths presented in God's word. We accept God's word, the Bible, as the direction setting authority and road map for the church.

In Mathew 22:37—39, Jesus says the greatest commandment is this: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” And the second is like it, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” As we take these verses and add to them Matt 28:19 where Jesus commands us to "go and make disciples of all nations". We are able to conceptualize the mission of the church.

The mission of the BLCOC is to love God wholeheartedly by living daily as disciples of Jesus Christ, by loving one another and equipping one another to do good works locally and globally, and by seeking and saving the lost.

Additionally, God told us that we are to "watch our life and doctrine closely" if we want to "save ourselves and our hearers". (1 Tim 4:16) As we take God's direction to heart we have drafted 10 church family core commitments to remind ourselves of some of the key areas, pertaining to life and doctrine, that we want to keep watch over.

Our church family core commitments:

1) To accept that the Bible is God's word and is my sole authority in life— 2 Tim 3:16-17

2) To seek first God's kingdom— Matt 6:24-33

3) To humbly obey God and His Word— John 14:15

4) To reject sin and pursue righteousness— 1 Peter 3:10-12

5) To encourage and train each other in Christ— Heb 10:24, Col 1:28

6) To proclaim Christ to the lost world— Acts 5:42

7) To care for the needy— Ps 82:3

8) To devote myself to the body of Christ and to one another— Heb 10:24-25, Rom 12:10

9) To recognize I am saved by grace through faith (not by works) — Eph 2:1-10

10) To uphold that a person's sins are forgiven (or is saved) when he (she) believes,

repents, confesses Jesus as Lord and then is baptized into Christ— John 3:16, Lk 13:1-5,

Rom 10:9-10, Acts 2:36-38

On a world wide scale, we are part of an international fellowship of Churches, formerly known as the International Churches of Christ. As we continue to be partners with these other Churches worldwide we continue to support God's work both locally and overseas. Our specific partnership globally remains to be tied to some of God's Churches in Eurasia.

All in all, we are about bringing glory to God by ever striving to grow more and more like Christ.
